In February 1999, Shiva Corporation became a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel Corporation, pursuant to the merger of a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel into Shiva. In connection with the merger, Shiva changed its name to Intel Network Systems, Inc. Previously, the company was engaged in the design, development, manufacture, and sale of hardware and software products that enabled remote connectivity to enterprise networks from locations having access to analog or digital telephone service or a connection to a public data network, such as the Internet.
