Whitman Education Group

In July 2003, Whitman Education Group, Inc. merged with Career Education Corporation (CEC). Under the terms of the merger agreement, Whitman’s shareholders would receive $6.00 in cash and 0.138 shares of CEC common stock for each share of its common stock. Whitman Education Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, operates 22 schools in 13 states offering graduate, undergraduate, and non-degree certificate or diploma programs primarily in the fields of information technology, healthcare, and business to approximately 9,000 students. It operates in two divisions: the University Degree Division and the Associate Degree Division. The University Degree Division comprises Colorado Tech, a regionally accredited institution. Colorado Tech offers various bachelor, master, and doctorate degrees in information technology, business, and management. The Associate Degree Division consists of Sanford-Brown College and Ultrasound Diagnostic School (UDS), which provide adult students with associate degrees and professional certificate programs. Sanford-Brown is a nationally accredited institution that provides associate and bachelor degrees in various allied health fields, business, and computer technology; and similar professional certificate programs. UDS provides professional certificate programs in diagnostic medical ultrasound, cardiovascular technology, medical assisting, medical billing and coding, and surgical technology.
