Energy Transfer Operating, L.P. engages in natural gas midstream and intrastate transportation and storage businesses in the United States. It owns and operates natural gas gathering and natural gas liquids (NGL) pipelines, natural gas processing plants and treating facilities, and natural gas conditioning facilities. Its NGL and Refined Products Transportation and Services segment transports, stores, and executes acquisition and marketing activities through a network of pipelines, storage, and blending facilities. It owns and operates various NGL pipelines, NGL and propane fractionation facilities, and NGL storage facilities. Its Crude Oil Transportation and Services segment offers transportation, terminaling and acquisition, and marketing services for crude oil and operates crude oil trunks and gathering pipelines. Its investment in the Sunoco LP segment distributes and markets fuel products. Its investment in the USAC segment offers natural gas compression services. Its all other segment offers natural gas compression equipment and compression services; manages coal and natural resources property; sells standing timber; leases coal-related infrastructure facilities; and generates electrical power. The company was formerly known as Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. and changed its name to Energy Transfer Operating, L.P. in October 2018. The company was founded in 1996 and is based in Dallas, Texas.
